Microsoft’s Bing is Blocked in China!

Microsoft Corp’s Bing search engine was accessible for some internet users in mainland China late on Thursday, indicating that online access to the foreign technology service may have been restored within the country’s Great Firewall.

Temporary or permanent?

Bing’s website was accessible on mobile as well as broadband connections, though some users still reported occasional difficulties and it was not clear whether resumption to service was temporary or permanent.

Microsoft did not immediately respond to requests for comment. It said on Wednesday that Bing had been blocked in China and that it was trying to determine its next steps.

Searches performed on Bing’s China website at cn.bing.com from within mainland China on Wednesday directed users to a page saying the server could not be reached.

The government’s Cyberspace Administration of China (CAC) watchdog did not respond to faxed questions about Bing’s blocked website。

The only major foreign search engine

available in China without VPN

Bing was the only major foreign search engine accessible from within China’s so-called Great Firewall, with Microsoft censoring search results on sensitive topics, in accordance with Chinese government policy.

Its main competitor in mainland China is Baidu, which this week pledged to improve its media aggregating service after a complaint about the quality of the service and its search results went viral on social media.

Should Bing be blocked, it would mark Microsoft’s second setback in China since November 2017, when its Skype internet phone call and messaging service was pulled from Apple and Android app stores.

Microsoft also has a partnership with Chinese data center provider 21Vianet to sell its Azure and Office 365 products.

9,382 mobile apps have been deleted

Alphabet’s Google search platform has been blocked in China since 2010. Google CEO Sundar Pichai said in December that it has no plans to relaunch a search engine in China, though it is continuing to study the idea amid increased scrutiny of big technology firms.

In a statement on Wednesday, the CAC said it had deleted more than 7 million pieces of online information and 9,382 mobile apps.

The watchdog also criticized technology company Tencent’s news app for spreading “vulgar information”.

Tourist was prevented to

leave China for overstay visa

In the morning of July 25, 2018, at the exit hall of Nanjing Lukou International Airport, the border inspection agency found that one foreign passenger had overstayed in the border inspection mission, and was prevented from leaving China due to the inability to pay the fine.

That day, the border inspection officer found that a foreign male passenger stayed in China for more than the time required for the Chinese visa in his passport during the border inspection of the KE878 flight from Nanjing to Busan, South Korea.

The passport holder has a Chinese L tourist visa (one time valid) that can stay in China for 30 days. Until the date he left China, he has stayed in China for 86 days and illegally stayed for 56 days!

The passenger said that the visa is valid until July 26th. He regards the validity period of this visa as the time he can stay in China. He thought that he would stay in the country for a long time. He did not expect to stay illegal for so long.

Since he has overstayed for too long, he will face a fine of RMB 10,000. Since the passenger did not carry enough cash, the border inspection authorities prevented him from leaving China according to law.

So, here comes a question, when you confront with such awkward situation, what should you do?

How to Calculate Curation of Stay?

Duration of Stay refers to the residence time for passport holder who is allowed to enter into China, starting from the next day of the entry date.

For example

No Way! Strict Punishment on Overstay in China!

You hold a Chinese visa with a 30-day allowable residence, and entered into China on July 1st. Your duration of stay in China should be from July 2nd to July 31st, and you have to leave China before 24:00 on July, 31st.

That means, if you leave China on or after August 1st, it is regarded as illegal residence.

During the stay in China, it is necessary to pay attention to the difference between the duration of stay in China and the validity of the visa. So as not to cause unnecessary trouble to your trip!

Disgusting! Foreign Passengers Asked Flight Attendants to…

The incident occurred en route a long-haul flight from Los Angeles to Taiwan on Taiwanese airline EVA Air on Jan 19, 2019. Several female flight attendants were allegedly coerced by a male passenger to “help” him remove his underwear and wipe his backside after he took a dump.

What happened?

The chief purser, identified only by her surname Kuo, revealed in a recent press conference that the passenger made unreasonable requests from the flight’s all-female cabin crew on Saturday.

According to Kuo, the man asked her crew to pull down his pants and then told them to wipe his backside after he finished relieving himself.

The unnamed passenger, who was described as Caucasian and obese, was using a wheelchair during the flight from Los Angeles to Taipei, reports MailOnline. He allegedly first asked to be moved to a row with three available seats and then requested a flight attendant to assist him in going to the bathroom.

Kuo said the man claimed he couldn’t use his right hand because he was recovering from surgery. He also complained that the economy toilet was too small for him to use.

After the flight attendant escorted the man to the business class toilet, he reportedly demanded that the door is kept open for “better circulation” while he defecated. However, the flight attendant insisted on closing the door.

He then immediately pressed the emergency assistance button and demand the cabin crew to pull down his pants for him.

“I told him we couldn’t help him, but he started yelling. He told me to go in there immediately and threatened to relieve himself on the floor,” Kuo said.

“As the passenger’s genitals were now exposed, one of my colleagues brought a blanket, which I used to cover his modesty. But he very angrily slapped my hand away, saying he didn’t want it and only wanted me to remove his underwear so he could use the toilet.”

The crew granted the request and left the man alone, only to be called to the toilet again to demand to be wiped.

In order to not leave the lone passenger trapped in the lavatory, Kuo’s chief attendant put on three pairs of latex gloves and reluctantly agreed to do it.

While the attendant was wiping the man’s backside, he allegedly started moaning to express pleasure from the act. “He said: ‘Oh, mmm, deeper, deeper,’ and then accused my chief attendant of not properly cleaning his backside, requesting that she do it again,” Kuo recalled.

A “recidivist” of Eva air

An airline representative told local media that the man was a frequent flier, flying between Los Angeles and Bangkok and connecting in Taipei, often carrying large amounts of medicine and cash.

Apparently, this was not the first time the male passenger had caused trouble when flying with the airline. An Eva air board member said in a press release on Monday that the male passenger, who had been flying frequently on Eva air, had made similar demands and threatened flight attendants with falling to the ground if they did not comply.

Official statement by company

Since then, Taoyuan Flight Attendants Union has urged EVA Air to respond and properly address this issue. They proposed that standard operating procedures, such as ensuring that physically challenged passengers are accompanied by their caretakers, should be established, and that employees should be able to turn down unreasonable demands made by the passengers.

Meanwhile, EVA Air issued a statement on Tuesday morning in response to this incident, saying that its crew members are not obliged to accept demands that they deem inappropriate from passengers such as toilet, feeding and medical services.

According to the airline, investigations will be conducted and appropriate measures will be taken if the passenger is found to have exceeded his boundaries.

The company will provide psychological counseling and assistance to the flight attendants involved, and further investigate whether the passenger was involved in sexual harassment, the statement said.
