Recently, Guangzhou Police has rolled out ten measures to facilitate entry/exit for expats in Guangzhou. Check these out.

NO.1

Holders of Talent’s Green Card of Guangzhou Municipality may apply for residence permits with a valid period of 2-5 years. Their spouses and children under 18 years of age may apply for residence permits of the same validity periods as their own.

NO.2

The preferential policy mentioned above in item 1 applies to foreign nationals who have obtained documents issued by Chinese local governments of prefectural municipal level or above recognizing them as high-level foreign talents, or who take high-level managerial posts of vice general manager or above or scientific research posts of corresponding levels at the regional headquarters of multinational corporations,  or enterprises headquartered in Guangzhou, high-tech enterprises, financial enterprises, etc. The same policy also extends to their spouses and children.

NO.3

Foreign nationals who have made major or outstanding contributions to China may, based on a recommendation letter issued by the Guangzhou Municipal Government, directly apply for permanent residence in China.

NO.4

Foreigners employed by local enterprises and foreign members of innovation and entrepreneurship teams may, based on Points Assessment Certificate issued by the Guangzhou Foreign Experts Bureau, directly apply for permanent residence in China.

NO.5

The Division of Exit and Entry Administration of Guangzhou Municipal Public Security Bureau has set up a green channel for high-level foreign talents, through which holders of Talent’s Green Card of Guangzhou Municipality and other above-mentioned high-level foreign talents are given priority in handling their application.

NO.6

Applications for visa/residence permit by high-level foreign talents are generally completed within 3 working days. Applications for permanent residence in China by high-level foreign talents are generally given priority in the examination process.

NO.7

Foreign nationals of Chinese origin working in Guangzhou who have acquired a PhD degree or have been working here for 4 consecutive years may apply for permanent residence in China.

 

NO.8

Foreign nationals of Chinese origin are not subject to the age limit of 60 years and may apply for a residence permit for work valid for 5 years or a residence permit for personal matters valid for 5 years (noted “Entrepreneurship”) upon submission of relevant documents.

 

NO.9

Foreign students studying in Guangzhou who engage in off-campus internships may apply to have their student residence permits noted with “internship” based on relevant documents issued by their colleges and the internship providers.

NO.10

Foreign nationals graduating from institutions of higher education in the Chinese mainland or the Hong Kong or Macao SAR who engage in innovation and entrepreneurship activities here in Guangzhou may apply for residence permit for personal matters (noted “Entrepreneurship ” ) by providing  their diploma as supporting documents. Those who have obtained employment permit may directly apply for residence permits for work.
