From December 1, passengers on Guangzhou-Shenzhen intercity railway service are able to hop on a train without buying tickets beforehand.
It takes only 3 seconds to enter into the railway station to get a train, almost like taking metro or bus services, simple and easy.
The system allows passengers to get a train first, then their fares will be deducted automatically.
They only need to use WeChat or Alipay to download and launch a ticketing page, tick a few boxes on a consent form and set up facial recognition for the first time.
WHAT’S NEW?
Guangzhou-Shenzhen intercity railway service has taken the lead in the country to introduce a mobile payment system. The new system has three features:

No ID documents required to be read

The newly launched mobile payment system is reportedly based on real-name information and facial recognition verification.
So travelers are able to enter the railway station without any ID document after real-name authentication. Paper ticket is no longer required.
HOW TO USE IT?

Registration
Search mini-program “广深城际通” in WeChat > “立即开通” (open the service) > “允许” (allow to use my phone number) > “开通免密支付” (enable automatic payments) > “同意授权” (agree authorization)
Then you can authorize the mini-program to use your phone number, and allow it deduct fares.

ID Verification
Enter payment password > Confirm real-name info > use facial recognition to verify your ID
In this step, you are required to perform face verification to verify your ID info. Luckily the platform has English instruction.

Registration Completed
After the verification completed, you are able to use the service. You can open the WeChat mini-program “扫码乘车” to let the entrance gate to read and scan your QR code.

APPLY TO FOREIGNERS?
According to media reports, Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan residents and foreign friends can use the services.
But they need to perform real-name verification at the train station with a permit or passport for the first time.
